We know what it's like to struggle with maths. It's exactly why we built Mathara. We're a small team of nerds, tinkerers and problem-solvers who want to make maths click. And, where we can, a bit more fun. Here's our story: who we are and why we do this.

The whole thing starts with me, Viktor, struggling a bit with maths in my first year of college. I just couldn't make it make sense. I felt like I never got a good enough explanation of WHY we do things the way we do in maths, and that made everything harder. After getting the lowest pass grade in my first exam, I got to work and started learning maths on my own. It took me a long time to figure out how to actually learn maths properly, but once it clicked, I saw results. It wasn't about memorising, and it wasn't about sitting 10 hours a day grinding the same topic. It was all about building intuition first. That core principle is what led me to not just pass maths, but to graduate with the highest grade at the highest level, across all four maths exams we have in Denmark.
While my own grades were shooting up, I also saw a lot of my classmates struggling in exactly the same way I had. That was what made me start my TikTok channel, where I began uploading videos explaining maths the way I wish someone had explained it to me. The channel grew insanely fast, became the biggest science channel in Denmark, and now has over 125,000 Danish followers. That's more than 15% of all students in the country. Students kept asking for my notes in the comments and in private messages, so I decided to refine them and turn them into actual books. Collections of all my explanations and experiences, written by a student for other students. Over the last three years, I've sold more than 40,000 copies to Danish students through my website. I started receiving more media recognition and was featured on the Danish version of Dragons' Den. From there I began appearing regularly on national television, taking part in the public debate about education, where my ideas could help shape the education system. All of this is why I started Mathara. A way to make effective teaching available to far more students without it costing a fortune. With the technology we have now, we can scale my methods from 1:1 tutoring and books to millions of people. With my amazing colleagues and investors, we launched in Denmark two years ago and have reached over 60,000 Danish users to date. Now we've brought Mathara to the UK, with local British experts who grew up here and sat the same exams you're revising for now. Everything here is built for the UK, by people who have actually been through it.
